On Tuesday, August 27, a commemorative plaque ceremony for the Kim Jin-ki Classroom was held in Room 33306 on the 3rd floor of the Business Building at the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus.
The event was attended by the donor, Kim Jin-ki (73rd Class of the Master's Program, former 30th President of the Graduate School of Business Alumni Association), and his family, along with Jeon Yong-joo, President of the Graduate School of Business Alumni Association (74th Class of Business), Honorary President Oh Yu-sik, Senior Vice Presidents Lee Jae-beom and Park Oh-young, Vice President Kim Kang-yeol, Secretary-General Sa Dong-seon, Lee Jeung-sang, Secretary-General of the Business School Alumni Association (74th Class of Business), Lee Chang-eon, President of the EMBA Student Council, Lee Seok-kyu, Dean of the Business School, Choi Young-soo, Vice Dean of the Business School, Kim Sang-gyun, Vice Dean of the Graduate School of Business, Oh Jong-min, Head of the Global Business Department, Kim Young-sang, EMBA Program Director, Jang Young-bong, IMBA Program Director, and Kim Yong-seok, Head of the MIS Program.
The ceremony began with the unveiling of the commemorative plaque, followed by the introduction of distinguished guests, a presentation on the plaque's significance, remarks from the Chairman and the Dean, responses from the EMBA Alumni Association President and the Student Council President, and concluded with a commemorative photo session and the closing of the event.
Chairman Kim Jin-ki stated, “Although I am older now, I still believe in the importance of diligently pursuing academic endeavors. I remain steadfast in my belief that 'as long as a person is alive, they must constantly learn and share.' I hope to be of some assistance to the juniors who strive to learn. As an alumnus, I will continue to work towards the greater development of Sungkyunkwan University.”
Dean Lee Seok-kyu of the Business School expressed his gratitude, saying, “When I first became Dean, I received a great deal of support and encouragement from Chairman Kim Jin-ki, for which I am very thankful. I am always grateful for his help over the two years he served as President of the EMBA Alumni Association, supporting his juniors. I will strive to ensure that the affection and support he has shown us lead to the development of outstanding future generations.” He further added, “Once the second Business Building is completed, we will move the plaque to a new classroom to continue expressing our gratitude and respect.”
Jeon Yong-joo, President of the EMBA Alumni Association, stated, “The Alumni Association considers Chairman Kim Jin-ki's love and support for the school and his juniors a great pride and honor. Inspired by his generosity and consideration for others, I will also strive to contribute diligently to our alma mater. I will widely convey our gratitude and respect for Chairman Kim throughout the Alumni Association.”
Finally, Student Council President Lee Chang-eon said, “We, the students, will endeavor to honor Chairman Kim's name and continue his legacy by achieving academic success and gaining knowledge here.”
Chairman Kim Jin-ki, also known by his honorary name "Haewol," served as the 30th President of the Graduate School of Business Alumni Association from 2022 to 2023. He demonstrated his dedication to supporting future generations by donating over 109 million KRW to the Business School. In recognition of his generosity, a title and commemorative plaque were presented to him at the Graduate School of Business New Year's gathering this past January.
