Global Business Administration held a summer contest with 3M for a month from 07/13/2020(Mon) to 08/10/2020(Mon).
It was organized by Young-Han Kim, Dean Professor of GBA, and Consumer Business Group of 3M B2C business division that includes Cho Hyun-Min, a graduate of the GBA. The participating students carried out projects such as planning marketing promotion and sales strategies of 3M products. The contest became an opportunity to develop practical skills of marketing field for students who were unable to engage in various activities due to COVID-19 situation.
Each team was assigned to one of the three topics after the kickoff meeting and participated in the preliminary round. Among the total 30 teams, two teams for each topic advanced to the final round. The 6 teams that advanced to the finals received feedbacks previously and made the final announcement.
The final round of the contest was held on August 10 (Monday) at 3M Korea headquarter. 12 employees of 3M, including head of the B2C business headquarters Ham Byung-sun, and Kim Hak-kyun, Vice Dean of Business School, evaluated the results of the projects. Due to the limitation regarding COVID-19, some employees and students attended the event online through Zoom.
Team 아리아리랑쓰리스리엠(Ariarirang-ThreethreeM), who topped the competition, said, “Because we had to develop marketing strategies for products before the launch of the Korean market, it was difficult to set target customers. However, it also became a challenging experience. By conducting tasks about the digital marketing strategy, we carefully observed digital ads that are often available in the daily life. Thanks to the contest, it was a valuable time that we were able to consider both positions as receiver and planner of ads simultaneously.”
