Conversations with senior in five employment fields “The Second JOB-HAKDASIK is held”
Our university’s Business Administarion department held the second <JOB-HAKDASIK>, a five day lecture on employment by senior graduates, from March 29 to April 2. This event has prepared for students who are thirsty to commuicate with their school members due to COVID-19 to have a chance to meet seniors and juniors and to get related employment TIPs from seniors. It was divided into five areas, including Manufacturing / IT&Distribution&Trade / Pubilc&Medical institutions / Financial institutions / Consulting&Accounting firms , depending on the occupations of the seniors participated.
<JOB-HAKDASIK> was conducted offline (lecture room) and online (webex simultaneously) in consideration of the COVID-19 situation, and a total of 331 people attended the event for five days. In particular, offline attendance was strictly followed by quarantine guidelines by limiting the number of people to 20 according to safety classroom guidelines.
The seniors prepared a JOB and firm introduction, employment process, and advice for juniors, emphasizing that “it is necessary to be able to connect your own experience, that is, your specifications and stories,” he stressed. He also explained how to get a JOB at an accounting firm based on his own CPA experience.
Although it was not possible to invite all students to the classroom due to special situation of COVID-19, a separtate monitor was installed on one side of the classroom so that both online participation students and seniors could feel the realism. Through this monitor, the seniors were able to communitcate by looking at the faces of online participating students. Even during the Q&A session, online participating students could turn on the speakers and exchange questions directly with their seniors through the monitor, or leave questions in the chat window and the seniors could check the questions through the monitor and answer them immediately.
Lee Jong-eun, vice dean, said “I’m very grateful to the seniors who came from afar even though busy at work,” adding, “I hope it will be remembered as a fun and beneficial time for students.” The seniors, who are lectures, said, “it was a good experience to look back on their student years and JOB hunting, and I want to participate again if I have a chance next time.” Choi Ji-oh (19) student expressed his satisfaction saying that “It was hard to get specific information on JOB preparation, but it was good to get a good tip through this event, and it was an opportunity to set specific goals how to prepare in the future through conversations with seniors.”
Business Administration department plans to continue its efforts to hold <JOB-HAKDASIK> regularly to strengthen the sense of belonging of business administration students and to take pride in being a ‘Sungkyun manager’ even when entering society.
