Jeon Yi-hoon (19), a business administration student, was selected for the President's List awarded to "Su-Gi-Chi-In"(Self-Cultivation and Governing the People) student who spread positive influences to others and communities through self-directedness, creativity, and fostering a spirit of challenge. He was selected as a creative scholarship student at the business school in 2020, and has been active in various fields such as Data Youth Campus, Impact Base Camp, LINC+ Business Group Startup Club Selection, and Service Learning Program. We met Jeon Yi-hoon, who is the representative of Team Dearsk and wants to find his own color, to hear more about the student success story related to the selection of President's List.
1. Hello, I heard that you have been selected as the President's List since the last selection of creative scholarship students. Please tell us how you feel.

Hello, I'm really happy to achieve another achievement I really wanted to achieve before graduation. I had a hectic day on the day of the awards ceremony because I had a lot of other schedules, but now that I'm here with my classmates, I realize it. It's a little late, but I'd like to thank the dean for finding out my potential and creating a good opportunity.
As a side note, when the selection guide came, I was in the library, and I remember trying to get our without making a sound of footsteps. Luckily I was able to get out before the phone hung up!

2. I'm curious about the process until you were selected as the President's List. For what reason did you apply and how was the selection process?
I already became a student who is about to graduate, and I wanted to verify myself to see if I had a good short school life.
To summarize my story, about half of my experience in Team Dearsk, and the other half of my experience was to find and challenge my favorite job. In the former, I developed practical management experiences that were difficult to obtain elsewhere, and in the latter, I tried to find my aptitude and increase my value by encountering various fields. Rather than continuing to study alone, I think finding a point of exchange with other students and finding a job that can have a good effect on society as a result fit well with the model of "Su-Gi-Chi-In"
There are two main ways to select PL : the Student Success Story Contest organized by the Student Success Center and the application through each college. I applied for the former job, but unfortunately, I wasn't selected for the final interview. At this time, I received a lot of feedback from the Student Success Center, and based on this, I worked harder on the PL application selected by the business school, and thanks to this, I think I was able to get a second opportunity.
3. You are engaged in various activities such as participation in the Student Success Story Contest, selection of LINC+ business start-up clubs, and service learning, and please explain the activities you participated in.
"Let's do anything without being tied to the field!" was my goal in 2021. It's because I thought that this is the best time to find my aptitude. If there was ant activity I wanted to do, I would rush in and experience it, and in the process, I would like to discover myself.
This year's "Team Dearsk" aims to establish a system. I felt that I needed a more firm system because my online activities were longer and my work was complicated. Team members who sympathized with the goal helped a lot by introducing collaboration tools suitable for our situation and setting up work manuals using their majors and experiences. At first, it was a waste of time to organize things that were not visible, but at this point, I feel that it is improving work efficiency much more.

In the first semester, we planned and operated a flogging event called "Sseu-Gi-Chi-In" with the school affairs team. As the name suggests, it is program designed to practice the spirit of "Su-Gi-Chi-In", and it is designed so that participants can participate in flogging to train their bodies as well as contribute to environment purification and revitalization of the local community. I was very proud to give good value to society by interacting with not only enrolled students but also local residents and self-employed people nearby.

<Data Youth Campus Results "Hate Comments Discrimination Using CNN Modeling">
Another field I'm interested in is data science. This summer, I participated in the Data Youth Campus, an education run by the Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency. More in-depth learning outside of school was provided, and above all, opportunities to participate in the project were provided, which helped me develop my skills.
<'Impact Base Camp' Big Work Team Meeting to analyze the survey results.>
Recently, I participated in the "Impact Base Camp" course of "Route Impact" that runs "Heyground". It's because I wanted to develop problem-solving skills by running various projects. Here, we studied ways to increase the user reconnection rate of the step donation app "Big Work," and we were able to logically organize the process of their departure after listening to user's voices and design an app prototype to improve them. Although it is a particularly popular activity for students interested in social impact, I think it was a process to clearly judge their strengths and weakness even if they were not.
4. Were there any difficulties during various activities due to COVID-19? I wonder how you overcame it.
I have more help from others than I have achieved great overcoming myself.
To be honest, I think myself had more shaking and retreatment. I think I thought thousands of times, "I wouldn't have suffered this if it weren't for the current situation". It seems to have been particularly difficult to bond with those who work together in an online environment.
As time goes by, it seems necessary to trust each other and be open to help. In the process of sharing your weaknesses and filling them up, we were able to get a lot of good solutions from others. Dearsk relied on KakaoTalk to share the work situation, but it was common to forget because all tasks were exchanged only through online channels. We shared these difficulties without hesitation, and thanks to the introduction of online collaboration tools by other team members, we seem to be solving many things without forgetting.
Whenever I go out to a difficult place, I can't speak well. For me, the current situation of "non-face-to-face" was a great opportunity. No matter, how difficult it is, it'll be done in my comfortable room with the other person trapped in the monitor. So I tried harder to meet many people this time, and I feel that I was able to use it as a chance to overcome my phobia.
5. I'm curious about your appearance in 5 years and 10 years. What is your future career path and goal?
On the other hand, I'm very proud of having various experiences without being tied to the field, but on the other hand, I'm a little worried because I didn't find a clear career path. However, I am looking back on my past experiences and selecting keywords for the moments I liked, and I think "business administration with data literacy" is the answer. For example, it would be in fields such as finance, consulting, and production operation management
Now, I want to prepare myself to become a valuable member of society by carrying out activities tailored to the keyword. Rather than imaging myself in the future already, I always want to enjoy that moment by finding the right fields for me little by little as I do now.

6. Lastly, please give advice to your classmates at the business school.
The time has come when we need powerful tools to represent ourselves. I am confident that no one can deny that the unintentional COVID-19 situation has accelerated the emergence of a non-face-to-face society. In the future, there will be fewer opportunities to reveal yourself in personally.
We need to be able to capture someone's heart even if we don't meet each other. Your skills, results, and insights can be the solution. In any way, I hope you can develop your own technical and logical capabilities.
I'd like to add a little practical advice. Last semester, a new "Visual Analysis of Management Data" lecture was established, a class to learn a data visualization tool called "Tableau". It was very beneficial because it was very helpful not only for various types of data but also for other external activities. It's a class that recommends classes to students who want differentiated hard skills!
