A special lecture by William Oberlin, President of Boeing International Corporation-Korea was delivered on November 12. Mr. Oberlin leads all of Boeing's company-wide initiatives in Korea. Prior to his current position, Oberlin was the Boeing Space and Communications Group Director for International Business Development, Asia-Pacific. After serving in various operational flying command and staff positions in the United States Air Force, Oberlin joined Boeing Helicopter Company as the Regional Sales and Marketing Manager for Far East Helicopter Sales in 1985. He was largely responsible for the sale of the first CH-47D Chinook aircraft to the Republic of Korea Army and HH-47D helicopter sales to the Republic of Korea Air Force. In 1992, Oberlin took a three-year absence from Boeing during which he was Executive Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea. In June 1997, Oberlin returned to Seoul to assume sales and marketing responsibilities for all Boeing Defense and Space Group products and services in Korea. Oberlin is actively involved in community affairs. He served as the president of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) in Korea and as a member of President Roh's National Economic Advisory Council from 2002-04. Oberlin is active in the US-Korea Business Council, Seoul Metropolitan City Foreign Investment Advisory Council, AMCHAM Korea Community Service Fund, and is a director of the United Service Organization (USO). Oberlin studied political science at DePauw University, and holds a MS degree in Systems Management from University of Southern California, and a MA degree in Military Arts and Science from US Army Command and General Staff College. He was a Federal Executive Fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. |
