Dean Rhee envisions SKKU Business School ranking in the top 100 globally withinfive years, although he admits this is a very ambitious goal. He believes that othermajor universities in Asia, and not local universities, are SKKU’s majorcompetitors. Dean Rhee also reiterated that the Business School’s missionkeywords of globalization, leadership, and innovation are now shaping a newparadigm within the organization, adding that “SKKU Business School provides acompetitive state-of-the-art education infrastructure and a learningenvironment where the future global leaders devote themselves to learning andskills development.” As a part of his plans, Dean Rhee recruited one of Hawaii’s senior international lawyers and executive businesseducators, and business communications and is also teachingNegotiations and <span lang="EN-USstyle=" font-size:10pt;"="">Doing Business in United States for the fall semester to Asia MBA program students. Dean Rhee said that SKKUBusiness School would continue to offer these and other cutting-edge courses toAsia MBA and undergraduate students while striving to provide similar practicalcoursework covering business in America. Dean Rhee has recentlypublished 10 articles that were cited in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), an interdisciplinary citation index product of Thomson Scientific. On compensation, DeanRhee remarked, “Given the university-wide fixed pay schedule, it is unrealisticto increase the base pay of the Business School faculty.” As a result, the dean has considered alternativeresearch incentives as a means of increasing the compensation of facultymembers. Dean Rhee plans for every faculty member to be entitled to receive a BusinessSchool research incentive for publication in top international and A-leveljournals. Owing to his effort, allprograms of the SKKU Business School and Graduate School of Business have beenofficially accredited for five years by the Association to Advance CollegiateSchool of Business (AACSB) International as of March 2009. |
