- SKKU Business School Faculty Meeting 2011
- On March 21, SKKU Business School Meeting 2011 was held with the full-time faculty members of Business School and the president Junyoung Kim in Business Building. < From the far left: Prof. Inman Song, vice president of Sugnkyunkwan University Humanities and Social Sciences Campus, Dr. Junyoung Kim, president of SKKU, Prof. Jaeho Sung, Provost of Planning and Coordination, Prof. Junmo Cho, Provost of Academic Affairs) Those attending the meeting included Dr. Junyoung Kim, president of SKKU, Prof. Inman Song, vice president of SKKU, Prof. Sunhae Hyun, dean of SKKU Business School, Prof. Kunchang Lee, associate dean of SKKU Business School, Prof. Sangman Han, associate dean of SKKU Graduate School of Business and other faculty members and employees. President Junyoung Kim asked the faculty members of SKKU Business School and the employees to make more efforts in order to build SKKU’s reputation firmly and also delivered words of appreciation and encouragement to all the members of SKKU Business School for their high-quality research, education, and service.

- Mr. Jongwon Park, President of Korean Re
- Mr. Jongwon Park, president of Korean Re visited Sungkyunkwan University to deliver a special lecture for the Understanding Corporate Business with the CEO program on March 17. In his lecture, Change and Innovation, Mr. Park explained vision and business philosophy of Korean Re. He mentioned that there is no one who cannot adapt oneself to the rapidly changing environment if he/she possesses an attitude to consider the situation of present seriously compared to that of past. Mr. Park graduated from the law school in Yonsei University. He worked for Ministry of Finance and Economy as a public relations officer till 1997 and he has been serving Korean Re as a president since 1998. Korean Re was established in 1963 as a state-owned reinsurance company. It was privatized in 1978 and is now the 11th largest reinsurance company in the world and the largest in Asia. Korean Re is continuously increasing the company’s value with innovative management and challenging attitude.

- Samsung Scholarship to Freshmen of SKKU Business School 2011
- On March 11, Scholarship ceremony for freshmen of SKKU Business School 2011 was held in the Business Building. Prof. Sunhae Hyun, dean of SKKU Business School delivered a congratulatory speech and awarded Samsung scholarship certifications to freshmen of SKKU Business School 2011. Samsung scholarship is the main one which SKKU Business School offers and lots of 2011 freshmen receive benefit from Samsung scholarship (support full tuition fee : within 120 students) and YoolGok scholarship (support half tuition fee : within 30 students).

- Special Lecture by CEO Sangho Ryu of Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd.
- A special lecture was provided by Sangho Ryu, Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. on March 10 entitled “Perspective on Korea Investment Banking (IB)” as part of the Understanding Corporate Business with the CEO program. Mr. Ryu explained the paradigm of world`s economy and the current status of domestic IB and its tasks in global era. In contrast to the manufacturing business, banking sector is invisible to the naked eye. Thus it is the key to success to gain strong credibility from the customers, he said. As for the tasks which are needed for Korea IB to leap forward, he mentioned on establishing global strategy, ensuring competitiveness through M&As, raising awareness, and strengthening internal stability. Mr. Ryu graduated from Yonsei University with a bachelor`s degree in Business Administration, and the Ohio State University with master degree in Business Administration. He started his career at Daewoo Securities in 1988 and served Meritz Securties Co. later. In 2002, he joined Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. and has been serving as a CEO since 2007. Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. was re-formed in June 2005 when the company was merged with Dongwon Securities. The previously named Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. (KITC) was Korea's leading distributor of investment trust products, mainly those of its wholly owned subsidiary; while Dongwon Securities was one of Korea's main securities brokerages. The new company is now one of the major securities firm in Korea with 110 branch offices, 3 overseas corporations, 1 overseas office and 2,290 employees.

- Samjong KPMG Inc. decided to recruit Byungchul Yoo (Business Administration ’71) as a new vice chairman. Mr. Yoo earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Sungkyunkwan University in 1978 and he worked as a vice head of data processing department at Securities Supervisory Commission. During his service at The Financial Supervisory Service, he was a deputy director of securities bureau, a director of disclosure supervision, and a director of asset supervision. Also he had worked as an auditor at Eugene Investment & Securities Co. Ltd.(former Seoul Securities) until May, 2009. - Mr. Hyungoo Lee (BA ’68) Elected as the next President of SKKU Business School Alumni Association
- On March 3rd, ‘SKKU Business School Alumni Association’ was held at Seoul Palace Hotel in order to elect the next president due to termination of Mr. Ikrae Kim’s office. After collecting opinions from senior alumni, Mr. Hyungoo Lee (Business Administration ’68/ CEO of Casamia) was elected unanimously as the 5th President of SKKU Business School Alumni Association. Those in attendance included Prof. Inman Song, vice president of SKKU, Prof. Sunhae Hyun, dean of SKKU Business School, Prof. Jongbom Chay of SKKU Business School, and Mr. Chansuk Lee, head of Business Administrative Office. Those in attendance among alumni included Mr. Yeungchul Kim (Commercial Science ’61), the 1st president, Mr. Soosam Chai (Business Administration ’72), the 2nd president, Mr. Yoonshik Kim (Business Administration ’66), the 3rd president, Mr. Wongab Kim (Business Administration ’72), vice president of Hyundai Hysco, Mr. Jongkyu Yoon (Business Administration ’75), CFO vice president of KB Financial Group, Mr. Jaemin Yoon (Business Administration ’75), department head of the Korea Development Bank, Mr. Moonki Jung (Commerce and Trade ’77), executive director of Samil Accounting Corp., Mr. Dongyeun Lee (Business Administration ’80) at Two Chairs Dachi Central Center of Woori Bank. Mr. Hyungoo Lee earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Sungkyunkwan University in 1978. He had worked for Jeil Synthetic Fiber Corp. for 10 years and founded his own company, Casamia Corp., in 1982 and has been serving as a CEO until now. Casamia is a total interior design brand based on modern, natural design themes. It offers various items of furniture, bedding, decorative objects, and interior styles to different age groups based on their life styles. Casamia has established a one-of-a-kind furniture marketing strategy that enables customers to buy furniture, beds, and other interior objects at one stop.

- 2010 Graduate School of Business Commencement Ceremony held
- The 2010 Graduate School of Business Commencement Ceremony was held on August 25 at ChoByungDoo International Hall, 600th Anniversary Building. This year the ceremony honored 312 masters and 16 doctorate graduates and it was attended by a festive audience of 600. Prof. Sunhae Hyun, dean of SKKU Business School delivered a congratulatory address. Faculty members of SKKU Business School at the ceremony also offered their congratulations.

- Prof. Heejoon Ahn Appointed SKKU Young-Fellowship
- Prof. Heejoon Ahn, faculty of SKKU Business School, has been appointed as SKKU Young-Fellowship at 2011 University Seminar held at the Shilla Hotel on Feb 21. SKKU Business School made the second splendid achievement followed by the first SKKU Fellowship selection of Prof. Kunchang Lee in 2006. SKKU-Fellow is for the best professors who have already landed on the top domestic / global research level or the ones with growth potential. About 4 faculty members are chosen per year and they are sponsored with 30 million won and deduction of teaching load ( 6 credits per year) for 2 years. Young-Fellow is for the young researchers who have great potentials to reach the highest domestic level or the global standard. About 4 are chosen per year and they are sponsored with 20 million won and deduction of teaching load ( 6 credits per year) for 2 years.

- Hyundai MOBIS Auto Parts Marketing Contest for Undergraduates
- Team Pure Heart (Joonhui Lee/Business Administration 07, Dahae Kim/Chinese Literature 07, Yaena Kim/Psychology 08) and Team Driving Pit (Joonsuk Park/ Business Administration 06, Myungchul Kim/ Business Administration 06, Jieun Cha/English Literature 07) won the Grand Prize and the Second Prize respectively at Hyundai MOBIS Auto Parts Marketing Contest for Undergraduates. Those teams are comprised of members of Magic Flute, a high-tech industry marketing association of SKKU Business School. 8 teams, chosen for the finals, gave presentations and Hyundai MOBIS chose 3 teams for the Grand Prize, the First Prize, and the Second Prize on Jan 19. Team Pure Heart made a hit with the juries by presenting concrete on-line communication strategy with SNS.
